Played guqin at Singapore Changi Airport

At Singapore Changi Airport with professional writer Kenny Leong (left) and his banana leaf shaped Guqin. He just bought it from the seller who chose to meet us at the airport. I played it while sitting at a bench in the departure hall. All the people and the environment seemed to cease to exist when I played the qin. Superb qin! 恭喜梁公子! 跟好琴結緣!絲桐合為琴、中有太古聲。公子您、盡情享受吧!

Special showcase of Mo Yan's books in KInokuniya Singapore

If you are looking for Nobel Prize laureate for Literature, Mo Yan's books in Singapore, there seems to be only one bookshop that stocks them: Kinokuniya 纪伊国屋书店

[Update] It seems that recently Singapore's national library has just stocked their shelves with Mo Yan's books too. Before he won the Nobel Prize, there seemed to be none. *smile*

Kinokuniya has a special area to show showcase Mo Yan's books at their Orchard Road store in Ngee Ann City. If you know how to read Mandarin, you should definitely read his works. Very lighthearted. Not heavy going at all. Happy reading!

Ping Sha Luo Yan on silk strings guqin by Youtuber xj808

Found a very nice youtube video of Ping Sha Luo Yan played on silk strings, uploaded by xj808. Very nicely recorded. Enjoy!

You will notice the lack of jarring metallic noises in silk strings, no metallic twang at all. That's the way it should be: no aural fatigue from listening to silk strings on guqin.

Video of Nobel Prize award ceremony of MO YAN

This is the video of Nobel Prize for Literature award ceremony for Mo Yan, a writer from China. You've probably heard of the titles of his books that have been made into movies even if you don't know his name. True to his nature, Mo Yan told a story during his acceptance speech. Fascinating! Enjoy!

You can read the transcript of his Nobel Prize lecture in different languages at http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/literature/laureates/2012/yan-lecture_en.html

In Singapore, you can find MO YAN's books on a special shelf near the Chinese and Japanese books service counter in Kinokuniya in Ngee Ann City shopping mall.

I have not found any of the local bookstore chains offering Mo Yan's books yet. Neither are there any copies inside Singapore's National Library.
