Chinese calligraphy lessons

Whoever said that learning calligraphy is a waste of time clearly does not know that every year, corporate enterprises like banks or other large multinational companies typically spend ridiculous amounts of money buying 'high art.' The 'trick' to appealing to these corporate customers who may be more willing to pay a good price for your calligraphy work is: (drumroll please.......) you need to make a bigger sized piece of art work. haha

Check out how much this calligraphy master (see picture below) is selling his work on Taobao. No he is not crazy. Yes, some corporate enterprise may buy it eventually. Inspired? You can sign up for calligraphy classes in Singapore at NAFA, Singapore Calligraphy SocietySingapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce or at the Singapore Confucius Institute. All the teachers at these schools are very good. I have attended one year of calligraphy lessons at NAFA in 2012, and I have brought my daughter for lessons at the Singapore Calligraphy Society for 6 months in 2012. I have friends who have attended calligraphy lessons at the Confucius Institute (however at the time of this writing, I am not sure whether calligraphy classes are still being offered at the Singapore Confucius Institute. The information for calligraphy classes could not be found on their website).

All schools are very good. However. the crux is the student. The student may not need to practice calligraphy at home in-between lessons (I did not practice calligraphy at home, only during weekly lessons), but the student absolutely needs to attend lessons (sounds like common sense but it's hard to do for many busy working people! ;-)
