Today 2nd July 2013 - Guqin Yaji at Singapore's Tea Chapter@Neil Road

Today Tuesday 2nd July 2013, there is a guqin 古琴 yaji 雅集 at this address on a weekly basis. Please do join them if you are free. ^_^ (Disclosure: No, I am not affiliated with the Han Cultural Society.) Feel free to bring your own qin, or simply turn up and play their qin, or just sip tea while listening to others play qin. 挺好的! Very excellent!

Personally, I think it's a great experience to play qin in public with other people present. One can really learn to cast away one's Ego and forget about what other people think and just concentrate to 'get the job done.' A very famous shakuhachi master teacher, Kakizakaii Sensei, once shared with me, "It's not the job of the player to enjoy the music or daydream. That is the job of the audience. The job of the player is to concentrate on playing the music well, not to daydream. Good pitch control, good form [also known as 型 or 形, pronounced as 'kata' in Japanese-language or 'xing' in Chinese-language, literally: 'form') in executing the techniques are the top priority." I couldn't agree more. ^_^

Guqin master / teacher Mr. Zhong Zhiyue will be bring his qin to this event. Presumably, you can also enjoy his performance on the qin. (thanks to Faery for this info!)
